“Salamat nalamang mga kapatid at akoy nabuhay pa sa hirap na pinag daanan ko na may isang buan akong lumakad na wala kaming kinakain kundi saging na bubot at kung makapagpalimos ng kaonting bigas ang aking mga kasamahan at ilulugaw at siyang ipakakain sa akin at ang damit ko sa katawan ay dina halos masunog.”

Gregoria de Jesús y Álvarez, was born at Kalookan on May 09, 1875. She is the daughter of Nicolas de Jesus and Baltazara Alvarez. She is the betterhalf of the father of katipunan, Andres Bonifacio. She’s also know by her sobriquet, Oriang and was the author and VP of the ladies' chapter of the Katipunan of the Philippines that’s why she is labeled as the “Lakambini ng Katipunan” and “Ina ng katipunan.” In addition, she is the keeper of the archives and seal of the Katipunan. Regardless of her noteworthy role in our history, extremely inadequate consideration is paid to her bravery in our documented books.

Gregoria de Jesus’ letter aims to let people know what really happened in the time of Emilio Jacinto. Deprivation, abuse of power, and dispute were encountered during their time.

There were arrangements and differences in the relationship of two gatherings, Magdiwang and Magdalo. Afterwards, they constrained Oriang to admit about some cash. They carried her to the Tribunal at Indang and there, she saw Bonifacio, harmed and languishing. Oriang was brought to a couple of spots including the barracks of the foes.

Oriang was freed by the soldiers. She is hoping that her sibling is still alive. She searched for her kin until her uncle revealed that her sibling is safe. Somewhere inside, she was appreciative that they were alive. Finally, she revealed who she believes to be the betrayer. It was Emilio Aguinaldo — “He is the foremost traitor to the Katipunan, and he should have been expelled a long time ago so that the disorder now being perpetrated would not have happened.”

This letter meant to tell the hardships and sufferings of Oriang and her comrades. This letter shows how Gregoria de Jesus became one of the brave and patriotic women who played a heroic role in the Philippine revolution.
